Hotel Pian del Sole is your gateway to the calm of the Ligurian hinterland with its very own considerable walkable area of beautiful grounds. You will while away a lovely afternoon in the garden, unfurling on the sun terrace or relishing in the serenity. The hotel lies amidst the beech woods of Beigua Natural Park, one among the UNESCO World Global Geoparks, and there are several trekking and mountain biking trails that begin directly from the hotel’s immediate vicinity. One thereby hops into a great field of nature walks right from one’s doorstep, through the woods acclaimed for their chestnuts and porcini mushrooms.

The delightful old center of Sassello is about a 20-25 minute pleasant walk down the hill into the village (only about 5 minutes short drive) from the hotel. The walk is quite beautiful as it takes you down the hill into the village. Sassello is famed as the birthplace of the soft ‘amaretti’ biscuit and a stroll through town is incomplete without popping into one of the ancient bakeries, say Virginia, to taste these yummy local specialties.

Sassello itself is quite a pleasant village by which to explore on foot, with its ‘caruggi’, old houses, and lovely little churches like the Parish Church of the Santissima Trinità. There are a couple of local bars and some small shops in the middle. But, the walkability gears specifically towards nature and the tiny village, for anything else a car is needed.
